Tennessee man arrested on bomb threat call

Bakersfield Police arrested a Tennessee man Friday on suspicion of making threats to detonate a bomb at the Kern County Jail downtown.

Police said that they received calls at 10 a.m. Friday that there were two bombs placed at the jail. The calls were initially made to the California Highway Patrol, but after a search of the buildings no devices were discovered by the Kern County Sheriff’s Department and the Bakersfield Police Department bomb squads.

Police investigated the call and tracked it to a Holiday Inn Express at 4400 Hughes Lane where they arrested Anthony Griffin, 32, of Clinton, Tenn.
