The benefits of joining the USMC’s Devil Pup’s

During the Aug. 24 episode of “First Look with Scott Cox,” former US Marine Dick Taylor visited the show to discuss his involvement in the Devil Pups, a Marine Corps-based youth initiative.

The Devil Pups program, which is active in Bakersfield, included a major visit to the massive Camp Pendleton base in San Diego County. Taylor explained some of the activities that teenagers — both boys and girls — are engaged in during the camp-like activities at the sprawling base. Of course, there’s one exception.

“They boys get a very close haircut,” said Taylor, adding that the girls wear their hair back but do not receive a haircut.
