A shooting at an Alexandria, Va. baseball practice involving members of Congress on Wednesday morning has left Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA), the House majority whip, wounded along with at least five others.
The Washington Post reported that the gunman was also wounded in an exchange of gunfire with Capitol Police. Two Capitol Police officers were among the wounded. The Los Angeles Times reported that Scalise was wounded in the hip and had undergone surgery. He was in stable condition, the newspaper reported.
The shooting happened at 7:09 a.m., according to Alexandria police, and several member of the Senate and the House of Representatives were at the practice.
