I had a very interesting chat with the mayor on the show this week. I wasn’t trying to weasel any information out of him, but I know that at least 2 pretty high-profile people are openly discussing a run at the office. I naturally assumed that they must’ve thought he was retiring- otherwise they’d have to unseat him in an election. And while Mayor Hall didn’t say he was running, she surely didn’t say he wasn’t. He sounded very much like he was mulling it over. So unless the prospective candidates know something I don’t, they will have to defeat the incumbent to get the job- and good luck with that, guys. Mayor Hall is the Peyton Manning of Bakersfield. The quarterback position is his for as long as he wants it. look, i’m all for a good old-fashioned mayoral race, but i’ll bet that if Harvey announces that he wants another term, the challengers will decide to wait out another term. We’ll see.
