New Study About Procedures for 911 Operators

LOS ANGELES (AP) - A new study says required questioning by 911 operators has been delaying the dispatching of Los Angeles paramedics and the start of life-saving CPR. The LA Times reports that in one 911 call cited in the study, a dispatcher asked a caller five times whether a patient who has had a heart attack is breathing. The report raises concerns about the scripted questions dispatchers are required to ask.
