State Transportation Bill Could Help Rural Kids

FEBRUARY 3, 2012 -- Kern County's rural school kids could get a break from a transportation bill passed Thursday by the State Senate.

Shafter's Michael Rubio led a bipartasin group in voting yes on SB-81 which replaces nearly $250 million being cut from home-to-school bussing.

Rubio said kids in rural areas would suffer most from the cuts, and the re-funding bill is now on Governor Brown's desk.
