On Friday, Feb. 3, the Bakersfield Police Department will conduct a DUI / Driver License Checkpoint at an undisclosed location in Bakersfield.
Police said this DUI / Driver License Checkpoint is part of an effort to reduce the number of persons injured or killed each year in DUI-related collisions. A major component of this enforcement event is to increase awareness of the dangers of impaired driving and to encourage sober designated drivers.
Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National
Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The public is encouraged to help keep roadways safe by calling 911 if they see a suspected impaired driver.
