According to the Kern County Fire Department, on Sunday at approximately 7:13 a.m., a call was received by the for a structure fire in the 100 blocks of Lucard and First streets in Taft.
Fire officials said a vacant home was on fire that was approximately 50-percent involved. Fire crews were able to knock down the fire quickly, but were delayed because of downed power lines on the burning home.
PG&E workers removed the power lines from the structure so fire crews could more easily attack the fire.
The fire destroyed an estimated $60,000 in property and contents to the home.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Approximately 25 Firefighters from the Kern County Fire Department responded to the fire. The Kern County Sheriff's Office and Taft Police Department assisted with traffic control.
