According to the Kern County Fire Department, a fire broke out around noon Sunday in the 4100 block of Reeves Avenue in Inyokern. Fire officials said a double-wide mobile home was on fire with several oxygen bottles venting inside the residence.
Two people who were home at the time were able to get out, though a 22-year-old man suffered second-degree burns to his back and shoulders, officials said. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Authorities said the fire may have been caused by an electric space heater.
The mobile home was destroyed, with a loss of $40,000 in structure and contents.
