Sheriff's officials said 29-year-old Chris Rice and 27-year-old Daniel Carbonaro went missing Sunday, prompting a massive manhunt.
Sheriff's authorities said their bodies were recovered Thursday in a ravine near Randsburg, Calif. The two men reportedly left a motel early Sunday morning on the all-terrain vehicle in freezing weather
without food, water or warm clothing.
In messages sent on Facebook from a supposed relative of one of the victims, the family was allegedly trying to get federal help in the search, that included family members. "We are so so scared and feel helpless to find my dear sweet brother. I'm so scared for him," one of the messages said.
They were reportedly headed for a dry lake bed in San Bernardino County.
