Lots of people make resolutions, but there's one person who thinks they can be a waste of time if not done right. Anne Balaban is a motivational speaker, humorist, and the author of the book, "Common Sense is Uncommon."
Balaban told Bakersfield's First Morning News why resolutions are so important for some people. "It's a timeline where we can reset everything," she said. "We can use that everyday."
For many of us, she Balaban said New Year's resolutions are just promises that often go unkept. She said it's "uncommon" sense to try dieting during the holidays or to try to quit smoking during a stressful time.
